Craving cheesecake, I decided to go to the Cheesecake Factory. Reaching there, I was surprised to see a line, but I thought to myself how long could it really take to pick up? But 45 minutes later, only 3 people in front of me had placed their order. Initially, as I couldn’t see the cashier, I wondered, how could someone be so bad at their job?
Finally, when I reached the top of the line, I had to wait another 20 mins to place my order. In those 20 mins rather than my annoyance increasing, it disappeared. I’d seen a bunch of people be annoyed by the cashier and roll their eyes angrily, but now seeing her work, I found their anger misguided.
The cashier was moving as fast as she could, but what surprised me the most was the smile on her face. If I were in her shoes, I would have found it hard to maintain a smile, between, taking orders, fulfilling them, fulfilling in-store orders and online requests, while customers didn’t tip you and were annoyed with you. I was extremely impressed!
Therefore, when I finally placed my order, I gave her a nice tip and said, “You’re doing an amazing job!” Her smile in return was heartwarming.
Always show kindness to service providers, they’re doing their best!
