In the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic and ensuing lockdowns and unlockdowns world-over, many unexpected, unplanned events, both sad and good, have unfolded and touched most of us at a certain level.
Over two decades ago, while studying at a US university, I had befriended many internationals. I remain in touch with some of whom (including this friend in this story from the Asia-Pacific) however irregularly. About three months had passed when I received a call from this friend, that too after a hiatus. Within a minute, I correctly guessed the stressful undertone of his conversation. Upon enquiring, he told me in detail about his situation – the daily verbal skirmishes with family and, of late, the emerging SUICIDAL TENDENCIES!
Upon hearing this, I felt the ground slipping from under my feet. I decided to put aside the things I had planned for that day. Throughout the conversation that went on for hours, I had him install Black Lotus, guided on how to use. He was a novice to Black Lotus and meditation, so I also asked him to follow YouTube videos associated with spiritual talks and yogic practices. I helped him create a routine to balance out his daily regime – meditation, food, exercise, etc.
Afterwards, I checked up on his progress in meditation and lifestyle, almost daily. Many weeks have passed, now he feels joyous and blessed – cherishing every MOMENT! And, I feel blessed, too!
