My daughter Mansi is eighteen and in Lucknow attending coaching classes. She usually inspires me by her small RAKs, but this one I thought worth sharing. She takes the Metro every day from Lekhraj station to Hazratganj. A couple of days ago while boarding, she saw a young boy about seven, standing alone on the platform. On seeing her, he walked up and began talking to her almost like he knew her from before.
The youngster said he had run away from home with fifteen thousand rupees as he wanted to live someplace else. But now he was scared and wanted to go back home. He gave Mansi the numbers of his parents. Mansi called and spoke with them, sharing the location of the youngster and waited for his parents to reach. She chatted with the boy and kept a close watch, so he wouldn’t walk out of the exit in the hope of reaching his house. The boy lived rather far away, and to his seven-year-old eyes, the station looked precisely like the one close to his home. His distraught father arrived twenty minutes later and took the child, and Mansi rushed for her coaching. She got a thank you call from them today.
An act of kindness is never wasted.
