Note to Reader: This is a sequel to my previous kindness story ‘The End Of A Life’ in which we had laid a wild grey partridge bird to rest by arranging a small grave in our condominium in Singapore.
The very next morning, we lost our pet Labrador in New Delhi. My older sister and brother approached the Residents Welfare Association for some space in one of it’s less frequented community parks. While they agreed they also did not want to get involved in the event, in case other residents raise an objection. The thought of abandoning a burial halfway was horrifying.
There were no pet crematoriums in the vicinity either. Travelling amid COVID was a concern too. We all prayed. Then my brother went over to the nuns at the Missionaries Of Charity ( Mother Teresa’s home). The gracious nuns understood our plight and readily offered a space for our pet in their field. Our pet was laid to rest in its private grave too, just like the beautiful bird.
Takeaway
Kindness begets kindness.
