I got to know from my mother that our next-door neighbour had tested positive for COVID. Uncle was hospitalised, and the Municipal Corporation put a warning board outside the gate.
On asking my mother, if she spoke to Aunty, she said no and also told me that no neighbour had. I don’t know if it was fear of COVID or fear of being asked for help, but she said to me that the lady might not like it. I clarified to my mother that if someone has an ailment and you ask about their well-being and offer moral support, there is no reason for the person/family getting upset. My mother understood and promised that she will call.
And I immediately called on Uncle’s phone which was answered by his son (my friend during teens but we are no more in touch), and I checked about Uncle’s well being. It felt nice to connect with him and could sense that he too felt like he had some moral support.
