Baba is our pet cat saved from the street. I have been feeding cats for several years now. Baba caught my attention because she had only one eye, as the other had been damaged.
In early 2013, I found her missing after a severe sandstorm and thought she had gone. A week later, when I went to the spot where I usually feed the strays, she appeared dragging both her back legs. She had met with an accident. I cried like a baby standing on the road seeing her plight.
Rushing to the vet, I had only one request that she should be saved. An X-ray showed that her legs were damaged severely. The only option was to remove both of them. I was not prepared for that but post the procedure, I took her back home. She was a fighter and lived happily inside the house for 5 years running around, dragging both back feet.
Come 2017 Dec, she developed a growth over her bad eye. It was operated by an excellent surgeon. Unfortunately, it was cancerous, and the growth came back. I was not prepared to put her to sleep and wished a natural death, fighting with the Divine for mercy. She was getting worse and decided to take her the vet with half a mind to take that last step. The appointment was at 8.30 am on 31st May 2018.
That same morning, she had severe bleeding from the growth. She lost her eyesight. I took her and kept her in front of the Sathya Sai idol we have. Chanting the Rudram, I kept the Siva lingam we have on her head and put tulsi leaves on her. My mind urged me to wait until the evening to go to the vet. My belief turned into reality as she breathed her last. It was an emotional moment for me. She is a blessed soul and has merged with the Divine.
