Feeding the Birds is an activity, which I strive to perform on a daily basis.
Initially, to be honest, I had picked this activity to make sure that I am able to log RAK points everyday :-). It started as a lazy effort to be regular at practising Kindness. But as days passed, it became an activity, which I looked forward to completing. There were days when I missed due to travel or work and I felt a sense of regret. My son and wife also started to accompany and it started becoming a family affair. Along with us, there was also another group of people, who were feeding birds and due to our bird feeding activity, we were able to forge new connections and exchange notes.
For feeding birds, I purchase Bird Feed from the neighbourhood retail store, as it is very convenient and complements your routine with a steady supply of feed.
During winters, it is really difficult for the birds to forage food and it was a gratifying experience to be able to leave food for the birds especially sparrows. During summers, the birds are independent in foraging food. Looking back, it is now more than a year of feeding birds and I can vouch that it is a deeply satisfying experience and one’s heart feels lighter and fonder with gratitude.
Feeding birds regularly helps in developing a routine, exercises the kindness muscle and in my opinion the best way to introduce kids to the concept of mindful kindness.
