30th November is Swamiji’s birthday. It is a very special day for us, and we celebrate it with a great degree of fondness.
On the 29th November, our 7-year-old twins asked us, “So what’s the plan for Swamiji’s birthday? Are we going to cook and distribute food to the needy and hungry people, who sleep on the pavement, like we do every year? Are we going to give out biscuits to those kids or not?”
Thus stirred into action, during the daytime, we cooked and packed some food casseroles, and I also bought a few packets of biscuits. In the evening, we served those casseroles along with biscuits and some cash to the needy.
I could see the look of fulfilment and happiness in their eyes on receiving that one meal, and the same satisfaction was reflected in the eyes of my wife and kids.
The question of my bread is a material question, but the question of my neighbour’s bread is a spiritual question ~Nikolai Berdyaev
Thank you, Swamiji, for your love and blessings. Please give us more strength so that we may serve humanity in whatever way we can. ???
