My neighbours are a couple who are senior citizens, and their only son lives in an apartment on the floor above theirs. They have been virtually locked in their apartment due to the COVID19 pandemic, and the gentleman is not keeping well. I happened to meet the lady while she was taking out the trash, and being concerned for them, asked her if she needed any help.
She called me later and requested me to get medicines for her from the neighbourhood chemist. She also gave me an extension board which needed repair. Since the lady and the owner of the pharmacy knew each other well, I requested him to call her to see if she needed anything else.
She told me not to have the pharmacist call her. She was worried that if her son came to know that someone had helped her out without his knowledge, he would be annoyed and give her a hard time.
Her son was not at all supportive of his parents, and the lady regretted relocating her residence to live near her son, who was unhelpful. She didn’t want to request him for favours.
She thanked me profusely for helping her with errands.
Help in whatever way you can.
