I keep travelling for tournaments, and sometimes it involves reaching places where the availability of transport becomes a challenge.
There was this one instance where I reached Jammu at 11 pm, and it was raining. The bus had dropped me at a bypass junction, and there were no taxis or autos. Besides, my phone network was not there as prepaid connections do not work in Jammu.
Another passenger had also got down from the bus, and it seemed like the person was waiting for someone. I asked him if he could help me in making a call to my hotel and he obliged. I made the call, and the hotel receptionist said he would send someone but after an hour.
As I had assumed – a car did come. I thanked the gentleman for letting me use his phone, and he left. After a minute, the car came back, and he offered to drop me to my hotel. It turned out that his friend knew the hotel. Thus, I reached my hotel safely.
Sometimes, I do offer rides if I feel that someone at the bus stop needs to go somewhere immediately. This way, I pay for the help I received.
Being kind is a way of gifting better moments to yourself.
