When the pandemic just started, and the first lockdown was imposed, I asked all my maids not to come for work. I gave them their salary in advance and asked them to stay at home. But one of our cleaning staff, living in our hospital nearby (she is all alone and abandoned by her family) kept coming to help me. Being a doctor, it struck me that it’s not safe to allow her to come into my home, but my husband insisted that I should let her if she is willing. Feeling sorry and compassionate, I started giving her ginger masala tea (sometimes with snacks) in the morning, which I guess she liked a lot. The first thing I do in the morning now is to have tea with her. It’s refreshing and a good start to the day for both of us?
