Yesterday was Christmas.
I saw a monkey on our verandah. I am generally very happy to see them and offer fruits and vegetables, particularly potatoes. Being Christmas day, I offered the monkey two potatoes and one orange. But to my surprise, it did not accept the orange and left it untouched. I then offered her four biscuits. Again, surprisingly, she took two but left the rest. Later, three more monkeys arrived; one was a child, and the other was a mother with a baby in its arms. That was such a mesmerizing visual! Then I understood that maybe they were a family and that’s why the first one hadn’t eaten all the food. It had saved some for the others. We were amazed to witness this expression of pure love between them. Later, we gave them cucumbers, potatoes and biscuits so that none of them would go hungry. After eating their fill, they all left.
It was an amazingly peaceful experience that we received on the occasion of Christmas; probably it was Santa’s gift to us! I recorded some of the scenes, and they will remain a cherished memory in my heart for the rest of my lifetime.
