Today, in class, my professor asked me to explain my research paper to my classmates. I wasn’t ready for this, but anyway I did it with confidence. The professor then asked everybody to rate my paper. Nobody said anything until one classmate of mine said that it was very well explained, and well written, which meant a lot to me. My heart instantly felt relieved. Then the girl gave her paper review, and ma’am asked us to rate each other. I said I would give her an A+ and myself a B because her paper was more inclusive of different perspectives. My classmate, on the other hand, said that mine was better because I stated my views and explained it, and noted the importance of standing by one’s opinions.
Our professor laughed, and there was a moment of warmth and smiles on everyone’s faces. If she hadn’t commented on my paper, I would have agreed it wasn’t good, but she stood up for me. I shall never forget that kind act of hers.
Takeaway
Take that first step, no matter how small. You never known how much the other person needs it.
