I lost my job in March due to the pandemic situation affecting the workplace. To cope with my anxiety and loss of a perceived tether, I picked up an old hobby – knitting.
I started to feel a sense of calm and joy whenever I would knit, and my partner suggested I share my happiness with others via streaming my knitting.
When I shared my story of losing my job and wanting to create a space for others like I wished I had, people began asking me in private if they could help my partner and me financially. I got the idea to sell my crafted goods through the kindness of my community.
It’s been six months since I started streaming. I’ve grown a sizeable community of people who come to my streams to relax and wind down, feel safe, and heard (their words, not mine). I started an online business for my crafts, and my mental health has never been better.
Life really does throw us some of the best curveballs.
Following our passions leads to a natural flow of kindness.
