A few days ago, I had shared a story where I had an opportunity to give my used smartphone to my domestic help for her son’s online college studies. By grace, soon I got another chance to do something similar.
Mr Sharma, a barber by profession, visits my housing society on request of the members. A few days back, as he was cutting my hair, we chatted about life in the times of COVID-19. He told me that he was facing a lot of difficulties where online studies of his daughter were concerned, as he did not have enough money to buy a smartphone.
I promptly grabbed this opportunity and promised to get him a smartphone for his daughter’s studies. However, this time I bought a new smartphone for his daughter, and more importantly bought a phone which I would love to have for myself.
Today, I called up Mr Sharma, who was in his village, and asked him why he hadn’t turned up to take his phone. He said that he was hesitant because he thought that I was kidding. I told him that next time when he came around to my society, to collect it from my parents, in case I wasn’t at home.
Do to others what you would do for yourself.
