Every Monday, for the last few months, I accompany my mother to a Shiva temple. While she completes her rituals, I sit and chant. This week when we reached, there were a lot of flower petals on the floor, and the priest asked me to wait while he got the premises cleaned.
While waiting, an elderly lady who had seen me meditating over the past few weeks offered to clean the place. I felt awkward and told her not to worry, I would clean it myself. But she didn’t budge, telling me that it was her turn and that I should leave her to do this. She cleaned the place and then told me I could meditate. I was speechless and humbled by the lady’s act.
When you offer to help someone it is reciprocated through strangers, too!
