Every time I’m at a grocery store, I try to offer my checkout spot to someone behind me, especially when they appear to be in a rush or have fewer items – all thanks to the Rak ideas on Black Lotus and the daily mindful commitment to doing one when pursuing a goal on the app. This past weekend was no different! There was a fairly young boy standing in line to pay for a bottle of water. And I knew he actually worked at the grocery store, so this was after his shift. I had a cart full of items, so I offered him to go ahead. He agreed with a smile and while waiting for his turn, started to ask if I liked to eat nuts or was allergic to them. And whether I liked peanut butter chocolate cups or cashew butter cups. I reluctantly responded to him in a friendly way that I was not a big fan of chocolates and preferred to eat nuts as a salted snack. I asked him if he enjoyed working at the store and if he went to school. Soon his turn came, and I saw him checking out and leaving the checkout counter promptly. I started to check out my items next and saw a snack pack of roasted almonds on the counter that the cashier informed me that the young boy had left for me (see pic!).
His gesture and thoughtfulness so touched me! 🙏❤️
Even a small act of kindness is reciprocated.
