A lovely old Australian lady moved into our apartment building a few months ago. We had spoken to each other a few times and were acquainted. A couple of days ago, when we happened to meet, she asked if I could help her put out her garbage bins because she had twisted her ankle. I agreed and offered to help her in any which way I could. Today, when I went to put out the garbage bins as promised, I noticed that the handle was messy to touch; someone had been very careless. I cleaned it up with a piece of paper and moved the bin to the roadside. As I turned around, I noticed that she watched me from her window and asked me to come and see her.
She was very thankful and gave me a bag which held a packet of cookies, a cake she had baked herself and a book written by her. There was a lovely card of appreciation too. Her gesture touched me as I wasn’t expecting anything from her for something so insignificant. We both felt the warmth of the exchange in our hearts.
The blessings she gave me were priceless.
