First things first: what happened to the known navigation and features on Black Lotus? Why this BIG change?
These were my first, pessimistic reactions to the new Black Lotus app when I updated my app early morning yesterday. “Are there too many unknowns here? Am I losing control over how I wish to use the app?”
The sceptic in me quickly downloaded a timer app to track my meditation going forward. Dawn had arrived, and I meditated for about 26 minutes using my new found crude timer approach.
I quickly drafted an email asking specific queries to Black Lotus, about how I used Black Lotus. A quick response dismantled my scepticism with the new and beautiful update.
Let me tell you my drawbacks in fully utilising the app previously. Both Rak and wanting to ‘be mindful’ have always been an afterthought in my practice so far. These are the exact changes that benefit me in the new app. The seamless flow from Reflect (meditation) to Act (Rak) to Reinforce (find inspiration) to finally Evaluate (ask yourself the right questions at the end of the day) is just what I needed to inculcate these in my daily life.
After a couple of days of usage, I am already finding immense benefit. I am now more conscious in reflecting on ‘how do I help someone today’. It isn’t an afterthought entry in the app anymore. Also, ‘I need to be mindful today’ isn’t a hindsight thing anymore.
Wish I had seen the explainer video earlier and not delved into this state of doubt. I hope you all find the same immense benefits as I am.
This is my thank you to the Black Lotus team.
Takeaway
Do not reject anything without giving it the benefit of the doubt.
