I was moving house and had engaged a moving company to help pack and ship the goods. Two gentlemen arrived for the job, seeming already a bit tired from their previous assignment, and climbing up four flights of stairs to our apartment. As they got down to packing, my wife and I served them water. A while later, we offered them coffee and also some fruits. We also helped out by packing a few things ourselves. To save them time and effort, we carried down a few boxes ourselves. In the end, they left with smiling faces and a bit sooner than they expected.
Being nice should be part of our basic nature, and not done to earn appreciation.
