It was in April 2020. COVID-19 had started to spread. The lockdown had been imposed, and those with average savings were doing well. The migrant labourers and workers were struggling. A few struggled to have one meal; few were reluctant to get back home where thousands of km was to be covered either by walking, cycling or any other transport.
To sum up, in one line about migrants, ‘they went there where there is life’. But unfortunately, this proved to be wrong. It was during this time that through our NGO we decided to distribute ration kits to all those we could. With the kind gesture from donors, we distributed around 150 ration kits in a week. It was indeed a moment where I realized ‘helping hands are better than praying lips.’
Kindness brings positivity, it shows us what humanity truly is.😊
