I was walking along a quiet road in my neighbourhood. It was an ideal place to walk in the COVID-19 situation as there was no traffic and footfalls of people. Suddenly further ahead, I happened to see an auto-rickshaw driver try to fix his vehicle, which had broken down. I saw that he was at his wit’s end and stopped to ask him if pushing the auto would help it to restart. He nodded affirmatively. I helped him to move it forward a couple of times to no avail. He told me that the strategy was not working out and thanked me for helping him. I felt he would lose a couple of hours of business due to loss of time in getting the vehicle repaired. He seemed like a poor man to me, so I gave him some money to compensate for his loss which he accepted reluctantly. I felt good and continued my walk.
Takeaway
Don’t feel shy when you observe that someone needs help. Help them as much as you can.
