We had a domestic help who had to leave work, as being married her in-laws wanted her to take care of them and household. But having worked with us for a few years, she was more like family, rather like a child. We had kept in touch with her. She recently had some pain for which she wanted to visit a doctor at a hospital near our house and wanted my wife to accompany her to understand what the doctor says. Being COVID times, we were a bit hesitant visiting a hospital, yet my wife decided to go.
We paid for the consultation and medicines. The doctor advised her rest and to sit on a specific kind of chair where legs can be off the ground. But we got to know that her husband told her that such a chair is too expensive, so he got an ordinary plastic chair for her.
She used to tie Rakhi to our son and even to our dog when she was working with us. We asked her if she would come to do that this year too, she was pleased and excited to do that. So this time as Rakhi gift from our son, in addition to some clothes and money which we normally would give, we also ordered the chair online.
She came to pick it up yesterday and was very happy to see it. Today again, she called specially to thank us and said this chair is even more comfortable than even the one that the doctor had suggested. Such a small cost to see a beautiful smile on someone’s face is worth every penny spent, rather much more.
Satisfaction of doing something that brings a smile on someone’s face is worth millions.
