Aman was a beautiful 32-year-old gentle soul and full of life. She was a volunteer at Baba’s temple, which I visited regularly, and always greeted everyone with a smile. She had got married a couple of years ago, and both husband and wife would help out at the temple. However, we stopped seeing them there, and I always thought that they must have become busier in their life.
A few months ago, I received a message that Aman was battling for life in the ICU. This news was conveyed by a group who were planning to offer daily prayers for Aman. She had had breast cancer, and that was the reason she went back to India. While I was sad to hear about Aman, I was amazed at the commitment of all these people who prayed for her. We prayed for her for seven days. Finally, Aman lost her battle. Special prayers were organized for her at the Gurdwara. The ever-smiling Aman touched our hearts with kindness even after she was gone.
Kindness can take many forms.
