Whenever I am in Rishikesh, I visit a nearby Shiva temple every morning. As I stay on the banks of the Ganga, I fill a small bucket of the holy water from the river for the abhishekam (ritualistic bathing) of the deity.
One day as I came out of the temple after completing my rituals, I saw a lady filling a pot with tap water for the abhishekam. Since I had water from the Ganga leftover in my bucket, I offered it to her. She joyfully accepted, and with tears in her eyes told me that she used to fill the pot with water from the river, but that day she could not because of acute knee pain. This had filled her with sorrow and regret. She felt happy that divine intervention had provided her with the holy water to perform the ritual.
I was also grateful for the opportunity I got.?
Takeaway
