I lost my husband fourteen years ago. A lady, about 4-5 yrs younger than me who lived nearby, also lost her husband around the same time. Our circumstances being similar, we both became good friends. The only difference is that I am a working lady, and she is a homemaker. She manages her monthly expenditure with whatever her husband has left behind.
My friend is a strong-headed lady and has a lot of self-respect. She has managed her life and raised her children single-handedly without any help from her relatives. Being fiercely independent, she hardly ever accepts anything from anybody.
Recently, I had a week off and had gone shopping with my friend. I shopped for some office wear and requested her to pick a dress for herself also. She was very reluctant and hesitant. After a lot of deliberation and requests on my part, she gave in and chose a dress for herself. This acceptance of my gift by her gave me immense satisfaction.
Even a small gesture can give immense satisfaction.
