A couple of years ago, I had gone to Rishikesh for a month to complete my yoga teacher training course. It was something I was looking forward to and was a great experience. There I met people from different nationalities, and now they are good friends, and we keep in touch. However, one lady didn’t fit in well and ended up upsetting everyone from time to time. At times it was emotionally draining. I tried my best to be good to her, but it didn’t change anything, so I just focused on my training and came back. I felt disappointed and somewhat hurt by this experience.
One day, I decided to forgive and not to keep any hard feelings towards her. I sent her a friendly message and wished her well. It felt good. A few days ago, I got a message from her as I was getting ready to sleep. She needed to share and wanted advice regarding the people in Australia and the lifestyle there. I offered her the support I could and assured her that she could contact me if she needed to talk.
The heart which once had feelings of pain felt love for her, and I had only blessings for her; I knew she needed them. I slept with a peaceful mind knowing I could be of help to her.
Takeaway
Forgiveness frees us and others.
