The other day I was out in The other day when I had gone out in the evening to buy things, an old woman approached me. It was obvious that she was a beggar, and immediately I gave her some money. She told me she was hungry and I asked her if she would like to eat something. Although I loudly repeated my question a few times, it made no impression on her, and I realised that she was hearing impaired.
Gesturing, I told her to follow me to a restaurant nearby that I was familiar with and asked them to pack some idlis along with accompaniments. I then gave the food packet to her. I thought she would probably eat the food right there, but she bowed and dashed off with a smile on her face. It brought a bigger smile to my face!
The thought occurred to me that perhaps she had a family, and that’s why she had dashed off. My only regret was that I should have bought some more food for her.
Giving is so beautiful and satisfying, it compels you to give more.
