Many times, when I go shopping, I notice a group of homeless people which consists of 3-4 families. Each family had parents and 2-3 kids. They would stay on the pavement and weave baskets. Every Sunday, while going for a morning walk, I would give them masala dosa and pongal from a nearby restaurant for each one of them. I would also get them a big flask of coffee and give them a cup of coffee each. During the week, if I went that side, the same process would continue. This went on for several months. Once, after ascertaining their needs, I gave them a bag of rice. However, one day they were no longer there as the corporation people had shifted them to shelters. While I was happy they had been taken care of, I was satisfied that I could help them. The whole process had been enjoyable, and I had felt a kind of connection with them.
Takeaway
It is quite fulfilling to think of people beyond our near and dear ones and do something for them.
