I am a medical public health professional and passionate about work, family, friends, music and spending time with myself.
I am also dysthymic, poor at relationships and on treatment for psoriasis and depression. I am, however, fortunate to have people near and dear who I can count on at all times. Similarly, I try to be that person for others, even beyond near and dear.
I recently reconnected with a close friend after 25 years. When she came to know of my dependence on medications, she sent me a recording of guided meditation in her voice. She immediately made a plan for me as to how I could rebuild my core strengths again and gradually wean off the medication.
That was a beautiful, overwhelming gesture of compassion. I found my old self emerging in just two days, and am eternally grateful to her, and to God for everything.
Takeaway
A kind gesture healed a wound with compassion.
