In our neighbourhood, there are many dogs. One particular female dog comes to our house regularly. During the lockdown we gave food to many dogs, they were not regular, but this one, whom we call Bhoori is a regular.
Two weeks ago, she delivered eight pups, and my younger son noticed that the puppies were shivering in the cold. He, with my husband, made a house for the dog using the extra paver blocks we had with us and placed an old towel for her puppies to sleep on.
The very next day, it started raining in the evening, my husband and son got a vast tarpaulin sheet lying in our house to cover her house. She stood in the rain with my husband and son and allowed her one-day-old litter to be near them. She completely trusted them with her babies. Now every afternoon and evening, we feed her milk and porridge, and she waves her tail for us.
I am glad we are instrumental in her well-being and a part of raising her pups.
Kindness can be sensed and it develops trust.
