The day was well spent. We went around the city to distribute blankets and realized that people sleep on the footpaths without any shelter, food, or basic hygiene.
What I saw :
Many were drunk; the weaker ones were pushed and bullied. The blankets which we gave to the kids were taken away by the elders and stronger women.
When giving to groups, they surrounded us and tried getting inside the car to take away the rest of the blankets. Those who had some physical impairment even asked for food, but we were carrying only blankets. It looked as though many of them had not had a bath in years. All the ladies were in groups, the men were alone, the young boys looked happy and cheerful while the girls looked stressed.
On the whole, the experience was an eye-opener. How truly blessed we are.
We must do more.
Charity helps us spread happiness and also brings happiness to us.
