Yesterday, I had gone to the mall to pick up a few things. There, outside a medical store, a young lady with a microphone in her hand was making a sales pitch about the items. With a smile on her face, she was speaking in a loud voice, but no one was paying any attention to her. People just ignored her and walked past.
As I looked at her, I thought that smilingly doing this for the whole day must not be easy. As I was entering the medical store, our eyes met, and I gestured to her that she had a big and beautiful smile. There was an instantaneous reaction from her, and she laughed and posed as if she was posing for a picture. It was her way of accepting the compliment. We both smiled at each other, and I felt her renewed enthusiasm.
Doing what she was doing wasn’t an easy job, and I wanted her to know that she was doing great.
Appreciation doesn’t cost much but can make a difference.
