This happened some time back. I was returning with my family from an outing when my wife pointed out towards a person lying on the roadside. People were milling around him but nobody was helping. I stopped the car and went near him. Realising that he was a road accident victim and that he was barely able to breathe, I started giving him CPR on the roadside. When I got tired, I asked some bystanders to continue. This went on for almost 45 minutes, till an ambulance arrived. I got the person loaded on the ambulance with due care and sent him to the nearest hospital. The unfortunate part is that when I called up the hospital after two days to enquire about this person, I was told that he was brought in dead to the hospital. I felt terrible. But then that is the way the things work in this world, I guess.
Help a person in distress, regardless of the outcome
