‘Do you want to take Swamiji’s books for the bookstall at an overseas event,’ I got a call asking this while traveling to Delhi to catch my flight. ‘Why not? It’ll be an honour.’ The deal was done; I was carrying some books on the flight to save the international courier cost.
After the call, I looked at my partner who was sitting beside me. She stared at me and I could totally read her eyes. We were already on the edge of our bags allowance and my promise to take the books had her worried. I calmed her by saying that there won’t be many books, so we’ll be sweet!
We arrived in Delhi. I got out of the car, got the boxes of books out. Yet again, my partner stared, bit anxious this time seeing those big boxes. Fearlessly, I said to her, ‘Sweetheart, we’ll take the books out from the boxes and put those in our bags to reduce the weight and, we’ll be sweet!’
The time came, we were at the airport weighing our luggage. We were 12 kg above our limit. Very humorously, my partner said, ‘Just pay for the extra luggage, sweetheart! I’m sure we’ll be sweet!’ You know, extra bags on flights cost a fortune. But soon a thought came to me, ‘Aren’t you just a medium, Arpit? Someone else is the doer, leave it to Him and He’ll take care of the rest’.
Finally, we were at the check-in counter, smiling at the lady who was serving us. After a while, she said, ‘Here is your boarding passes, move towards the security’. She didn’t look at our luggage weight at all. We could clearly see that the scale exceeded the limit for all of our bags. We went away quietly but, weren’t surprised. Our hearts knew that it was His grace and He gets all things done Himself.
Walk the path faithfully, He is the doer and, under His grace, everyone’s always sweet. 🙂
