Diwali: A festival that we look forward to. The celebrations start a few days in advance; we spend money on clothes for ourselves, gifts for family and friends, etc. While each member of our family wore new clothes, it dawned on us that there were so many poor people who could not afford to buy new clothes on Diwali.
For the past six years, we have stopped spending money on gifts and instead started buying new clothes for the economically disadvantaged. We realised that we could buy new clothes for a minimum of 30 poor children whose happiness is boundless on seeing them.
Most importantly, our friends who used to visit with gifts have stopped and started spending quality time over tea and homemade snacks, which are definitely festive and beautiful.
Try it out and see what a joyous feeling you bring into your home.
Takeaway
This Diwali change your gifting pattern and usher in a world of genuine happiness.
