Whenever someone disappoints us, forgets something important, or delays our work, our first reaction is often irritation. I can today agree with the frustration as I am no one better in this case.
But sometimes, we forget something that is more important to hold than our frustration.
Recently, I was given an important project by my colleague Zane (not his real name) on 24th April and was asked to submit it by 27th April.
But I forgot. He dropped me a Remainder.
Lately, Iโve been struggling with memory issues that cause lots of trouble in my household too, and while trying to manage everything afterward, I realised I couldnโt even find the prompt required for the work.
So on 28th April, Zane shared the prompt with me again and asked me to submit it the same day.
Around 11 AM, he sent me another reminder, and I replied saying Iโd send it in a few minutes.
And thenโฆ
I forgot again.
By 4 PM, ANOTHER reminder came from him.
Somehow, I completed and submitted the project, but the guilt stayed with me. So I finally explained to him my condition and everything honestly and apologised.
I expected maybe a dry โok,โ or โYou couldโve told me earlier,โ or perhaps just a blue tick.
But instead what he said is something I want to write as it is…โNo worries at all, Jayshree. I totally understand. Donโt stress too much about it, we all have those phases. Iโll definitely give you a quick buzz if I donโt hear back, just to keep things moving. Take care of yourself.โ
And honestly, that response stayed with me.
Zane Held What I couldn’t, most of us don’t… KINDNESS & PATIENCE. I am Still Grateful To Have Zane As My Colleague๐๐.
Takeaway
LET’S HOLD ON THE KINDNESS AND PATIENCE IN OUR HEART , A LITTLE LONGER THAN OUR FRUSTRATION.
