Today I read the wisdom of a negative thought barging into our mind and disturbing our tranquility. Despite years of Sadhna, meditations, and so on, it just takes not even a second to react and get shaken up.
My son had come over, and during our conversation, he said something, and in a split second, I reacted very strongly. He retorted angrily and walked away in a huff. I was fuming, even when he had left. Slowly I. took deep breaths and meditated. Mind you, I am 80 years old, and he is 53! I slowly recovered my composure and felt terrible, as I had failed my practical exam, for not being calm in a crisis. By writing about this, I closed the incident and let it go.
Takeaway
It takes a split second to loose your equanimity.
