One evening, I walked into the park when I saw a black female dog. She looked as if she had just birthed her litter. She approached me, and I felt she wanted to communicate something. I started talking to her and rubbed her head, which delighted her as she wagged her tail. Apparently, strays too needed some love and attention.
The next evening, I was going to the nearby temple, and when I reached there, I saw that the same dog had followed me there. I was happy to see her, and I guess she too was happy because she came towards me wagging her tail. I sat with her for a while and then headed to the park. To my surprise, the dog followed me there.
This episode made me realise that animals, too, need love. Not only our pet dogs but street dogs also need affection. It is our responsibility as humans to care for them. It gives immense joy and satisfaction to love them, feed them and provide in any way.
Takeaway
Love is at the core of all sentient beings. Spread it abundantly.
