A couple of days ago, I was standing in a queue at the bank. A young girl, most probably a college student, stood behind me with a one-third-pound mason jar filled with coins.
I said to her, “ You need to wait till it fills up completely before cashing it in.” The girl replied, “I don’t have any money in my account and will have to cash it now.” It probably totalled 500 rupees. I remembered being a poor student myself just a year ago, always strapped for cash!
When I reached the counter, I asked the lady to withdraw 5000 rupees from my account and see to it that it gets deposited into the account of the girl holding the mason jar. The lady was surprised and asked me if I knew her. I replied, “No, but I think she needs the money more than I do, and I am just paying it forward.”
The lady told me that it was the kindest thing she had seen anyone do. I left the bank feeling good and sought blessings from the universe for the young girl.
The joy of giving is unparalleled.
