I live along the main road in the city, which has a broad divider. A few trees were planted by the municipality on the divider some years ago. But there were only about 10 trees when there could have been 40-50 trees, which meant only a few had survived. There were large gaps between each tree.
This monsoon, I, with the help of a local NGO, took the initiative to plant around 50 saplings in those gaps. My helper, who is also my driver, took good care by watering them regularly, which is a fairly difficult task to do on the main road. Now another organization has taken up watering these little beings.
It is so heartwarming to see these plants swaying and thriving well now.
Each of us can take some responsibility for our environment.
