This is a story by 11-year-old Neev Damani, who is inspired and awed by his grandparents’ loving and generous example. In his own words:
Last summer, I visited my grandparents in Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh (a state in India). My grandparents are really very kind and loving; their daily activities always contain some type of kindness towards anyone who crosses their path that day.
My grandfather goes to a neighbouring locality every morning and feeds 18 dogs daily. He stocks up biscuits and replenishes his stocks every five months. He also regularly feeds the homeless, and my grandmother has made a habit of feeding the cows every day. Once he is back from his daily rounds, at 8.30 am, some kids from the slums come to collect their daily share of chocolates from him. My grandfather’s philosophy is that giving them a sweet treat is better than giving money. They have a loving and caring attitude towards all, and I really love that about them. I respect them a lot and have a lot of fun while visiting them.
Takeaway
Inculcate good values by being role models.
