After my wife’s medical checkup, I was returning from the hospital when I saw a girl telling eight children from the slum nearby that she would not give them food. Shocked, I went there and told her that I could provide money for their food. She told me she would instead teach them to earn and not beg. Her name was Muskan Batra. After a long conversation, she told me she comes every weekend to teach and train them after a 60-80 km journey. She asked me to give time to them for some training/education, not money so that they won’t beg in the future.
I gave the children some pointers on earning and my philosophy of understanding life – I also rose to become a Technical Officer in the Defence from a newspaper hawker. I then paid for their food and came back after understanding Muskan’s awesome point of view.
Takeaway
Education is more important than money.
