I am a student doing my master’s degree in Mathematics. I was exposed to the realities of the world after the 12th grade. Reading newspapers and watching the news on TV made me restless, and every negative news impacted me. I felt that either death or renunciation was better than living in this world.
Then, spiritual books written by Swami Sivananda Saraswati entered my life. Those books gave me a whole new perspective on life and the world. After that, I joined Vivekananda Kendra, whose main aim is to awaken people of India to realise their true potential and work selflessly to uplift the society. After that, along with my studies, I also started teaching young students. Interacting with them made me realise that the education system had bound their minds and destroyed their thought process and creativity. They had no dreams; all they wanted, was just to pass their exams. They were not interested in learning from their hearts because of our outdated education system. The stress of school life impacted them negatively.
This worried me, and I decided to take special classes along with their syllabus. Now, every Sunday, I motivate a small group of students to have big dreams. We organise group discussions regarding our country’s problems and possible solutions and our role in solving the problems. My dream is to connect with the youth and help them break the shackles created by wrong education and guide them on the right path.
Takeaway
Right education leads to empowerment.
