In my last job, where I was an Assistant Professor of Psychology, I left that job due to multiple reasons. I left each group except the students’ group as I promised them they could contact me whenever they felt so.
Last week I learned that one of my students committed suicide because of some personal issues. I was feeling very bad. One of my colleagues also called me and said students need you, but nowadays I am in England to help my family.
I was pretty disturbed and also when I thought about other students. Then I decided to send messages to them on Whatsapp. I asked about their lives and the issues they were facing. And I also wrote that I loved all of them and that they could contact me whenever they felt down.
They really felt very good and sent some beautiful messages. Hearing this gave me some relief too.
Never wait for an opportunity to help others – look for and find ways to help people.
