I once played a chess tournament where I lost a game really, really badly. I was sobbing at the end of it. I just sat there and stared at the board as tears of frustration and disappointment blurred my vision (yes, I am not a very graceful loser yet). An old lady came up to me and gave me some tissues. I sniffed and thanked her and composed myself. After that, she told me something that stuck with me forever. She told me, “Die gracefully.” And something about that just impacted me so much. I’ll never forget that incident, and I’m ever grateful for the tissues that saved me from embarrassment later 😂
