I usually get my haircut early in the morning. This time was no different, but my usual barber shop was closed. Upon enquiry, I learned about a new shop which could be an alternative.
I walked around and found the new shop. The attending guy was a young, jovial person, and I decided to go ahead with the haircut. A few minutes into the process, it was evident that the guy was young and lacked experience. He could have done with some more training before opening this shop.
Although the outcome didn’t meet my expectations, I let him complete the process, but my disappointment was clearly visible on my face.
I decided to give honest feedback to him on areas of improvement and asked him to hear me out for a minute. I told him that I would return for my next haircut and that he should improve his craft in all the areas I mentioned.
Today was that promised second visit. The guy had learnt a lot in the interim period and even grown his customers manifold.
He smiled and thanked me for returning even after a disappointing first experience. I told him I was happy to see him getting better at his job. I thanked him and returned.
Everyone grows on honest guidance and a second chance. Always give a sincere opportunity to others.
