I was 14 when I started being aware of the critical situation of hungry stray animals. Seeing their injuries and suffering, I felt that the least I could do was to help them by giving them some food and water. The first time I fed a stray was when I gave food to a mother dog who had given birth to 7 pups! That day, she was very tired and thirsty.
The heartbreaking thing was that although many people who passed by were aware, they still didn’t care to give her some water. So first I fetched a bowl of water and then gave her some milk with egg and some biscuits. After eating, she looked at me and started wagging her tail. Maybe that was a sign of thankfulness. I relaxed and felt good as she became a bit energetic.😌
That incident made me get into the practice of keeping a pot of water for strays every day and giving some food if I come across some needy animals. I feel disheartened to see so many stray animals struggling for food. Hunger is universal, so why don’t the so-called most ‘evolved’ creatures understand this? Why can’t we be kind to animals?
Takeaway
It takes nothing away from humans to be kind to an animal! Please be compassionate towards them.
