I was at the airport and called an Uber, which arrived later. Tired and exhausted after the flight, I waited for the driver to get down to help with my suitcases, but he chose to keep sitting, to my surprise. I was super angry at his behaviour and attitude.
It took me some effort to put my suitcases in the trunk. When getting in, I was still simmering with anger when I heard a voice say good evening. I replied grudgingly. The driver apologized for not getting off to help me because he was disabled. Believe me, I have never felt so ashamed in my entire life. I always thought I had a very compassionate heart, but the goodness of my heart came tumbling down. Later, to hide my embarrassment, I continued talking with him about his family, etc. and later tipped him. But a nagging thought remains — did I try to compensate for judging this person without knowing the facts with money? Sad but true!
Takeaway
Try not to be judgemental before knowing all the facts.
