At the beginning of this school year, my 9 year old had a new bus attendant. One day my daughter, Payoja, shared that all the kids dislike this new bus lady because she is very strict. Also, nobody wants her in the bus. And then she added, “But I feel that she must be a nice person, I don’t hate her.
After couple of days, while returning from the bus drop off, Payoja said, “Mumma, today when I got in he bus, the bus lady was very grumpy. I hugged her then. I think she is very good at heart. When I hugged her, she laughed and said thank you. I was surprised that how could Payoja hug a stranger whom she just knows from last couple of weeks.
One day again Payoja hopped off from the bus and showed me a pencil, chirping as usual she said, “Mumma, the bus lady gifted me this pencil”.
I said, “Oh is it her birthday?”
“No Mumma,” said Payoja, skipping down the pathway, “The bus lady said that her son lives overseas and it’s the first time in last 20 years she got a hug and a new friend.”
